Wines 101: Event Details and Materials

On Monday, September 16, we will host our annual Wine 101 tasting. At the beginning of every school year, we host this educational tasting to give the wine-beginners among us a bit of foundational wine knowledge.  We have selected a wide variety of wines making this tasting a great way to figure out your wine preferences.

As a reminder, you must RSVP in order to attend our tastings: RSVP here for Wines 101. Tastings are sit-down events, during which the guest wine experts give detailed presentations on the wine and walk everyone through the tasting glass-by-glass.

Below, you can find links to some supplemental materials that will be helpful for the tasting:

Happy last day of classes to all CLS students! Now that our 3Ls have (almost) become alumni, we are giving our outgoing DeVinimus presidents a proper send-off in our first ever logo apparel!

Thank you to Paul Stretton and Mike D’Andrea for all their hard work, service, and commitment to the organization and the Columbia community over the past three years. After three years of tasting set-ups and clean-ups, Finger Lakes retreats, and board socials, you’ve finally made it to your last law school class ever. Your success is well-deserved and you will be greatly missed. Congratulations, good luck, and remember: “When people drink, then they are rich and successful and win lawsuits and are happy and help their friends.” – Aristophanes.

Best wishes,

Your DeVinimus family

Chateau Kirwan Tasting

What: Chateau Kirwan Tasting (classified Margaux from Bordeaux)
When: Thursday, April 27 at 7:30pm
Where: JG 104

Happy last week of classes! We know it’s finals time so everyone (except maybe 3Ls…) is hitting the books, but we have one more Devinimus event this semester to invite you to. We are excited to host Chateau Kirwan, a third growth classified Margaux from Bordeaux (Don’t know what that means? Clink the link to find out!). Chateau Kirwan makes great Bordeaux wines, and we think that if any event can tempt you to take a (probably well-needed) study break, it should be this one.

Because it’s getting close to finals and we know it may be harder for some people to make this event, we are letting any Devinimus member bring a guest for free. So, if you have a friend who you think needs a break from holing up in the Law Library, RSVP and add a guest for this one. We hope to see as many people as possible on Thursday for our last event!

Dr. Konstantin Frank

What: Dr. Konstantin Frank tasting (led by Meaghan Frank)
When: Thursday, April 20 at 7:30pm
Where: JG 106

Come join us for the wines of Dr. Konstantin Frank, one of New York’s best wineries. If you’ve ever been wine tasting by the Fingerlakes, you’ve probably heard of these wines because they were one of the first and most influential in the area. They are generously bringing us nine of their wines, most of them white – so if you’re a white wine lover and get tired of our normally red-heavy tastings, this is a tasting you shouldn’t miss!
